Four weeks ago I placed two glass panels in my garden and left them out to allow soil, leaves and other organic material to build up on top of them. I was interested in the idea of creating a direct tracing, and letting an environment imprint itself on my art-making so that it may exist as more than just a representation. I ended up making the sunprints in late afternoon, which meant that the angle of the sun cast elongated shadows of the grass and leaves that had fallen onto the panels, distorting the appearance of the print and creating an ambience of light and shadow.
