Kirkeby's work was suggested to me by a lecturer for the textural and colour relationships within them. His works are often greatly influenced by his interest in geology and natural environments. This is part of the reason why I am interested in Kirkeby as an artist, as I also like to communicate organic features within my work. His use of layering with patches of colour creates an interesting dynamic within the works, which is something I could potentially experiment with within my own art.
